Welcome
Flagstaff Oval Kindergarten was purpose built in 1985 and is situated in a large shaded bush setting. We provide a stimulating learning environment for young children based on developing life skills, competencies and positive learning dispositions.
Our curriculum aims to develop learning outcomes in:
- Communication (developing literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
- Identity (developing a sense of self and group identity)
- Interdependence (being connected with the community and the world)
- Futures (developing optimism actively planning, taking action and shaping a preferred future)
- Thinking (developing capabilities to create and evaluate ideas and solutions)
We use the Early Years Learning Framework to underpin our curriculum programming.
We encourage children to be optimistic, creative thinkers and social learners who are empowered to direct and evaluate their own learning. We believe that children learn best through play, and that learning is enhanced when parents and staff work together.
Staff, parents and the Governing council work together to maintain and develop the curriculum and facilities at our site. Regular opportunities are provided for everyone to have input in many different ways into the life of our Kindergarten.
The Kindergarten has an inclusive Speech and Language Program (SLP) for seven children with communication difficulties. This is staffed by a Speech Pathologist and a Speech & Language teacher.
